Trump's 4-Point Plan to Push America Into Authoritarianism
- Deploy masked and armed immigration agents into Democratic-run cities to wreak havoc and provoke demonstrations.
- Wildly exaggerate the scale and severity of the protests, describing cities like Portland and Chicago as “war-ravaged hellholes”.
- Deploy National Guard troops from out of state to further antagonize an already outraged public in hopes of stoking actual violence. (This is where we are now.)
- Invoke the Insurrection Act, which would empower him to impose martial law. In advance of the 2026 midterms, this would be the ultimate step in Trump’s authoritarian power grab.
It’s all straight out of the same authoritarian playbook used by Russia’s Vladimir Putin and Hungary’s Viktor Orbán.
